CONFETTI
by Carouselrose

In a nest of pillows
I brood
Hatching a sorrow
that now I must name
A petulant child that
tugs at my skirts
whining, sniffling,
stamping it's feet and
clenching it's fists in
frustrated rage
Be a good little sorrow
I say
Go play
Mother has a headache
today
Go away
Read me a story it says
Humpty Dumpty it says
smirking
as it tosses me the
confetti of it's broken
shell

THE SOUND OF SILENCE
by Carouselrose

Your words were hollow vessels of raw
clay
into which I poured my dreams
Unfired in the kiln of reality
the brittle clay shattered
my soul lost in the rubble
With the shards I repaired my walls
my tears melting the clay into mortar
to chink the holes you had rent
Yet your potter's wheel spins once
more
hollow vessels, hollow words
how can I believe?
My silence is your edict
Banished without cause
without recourse
unfairly draped in the sins
of those before me
Costumes I refuse to wear
Parts I refuse to play
Banished
my silence is your sentence

MY LOVER TONIGHT
by Carouselrose

Which hand shall be my lover tonight
as I stare at this picture unburied from
the bowels of a book clotted closet?
Do you wonder where my gaze
lingers?
Do you think my eyes dart from
part
to
part?
Private yes,
hidden no.
My eyes do
what my hand cannot.
Smooth the hair from your face
Stroke the dark hair upon your arms
Trace the muscles and bones of your
hands
Lift a palm to my lips
My eyes do
what my lips cannot.
Taste the hollow of your neck
Feel the beating of your heart
Kiss the flat and fuzzy belly
My eyes close.
My mind wanders.
My hand follows, my lover tonight.

HEART CANDLE
by Carouselrose

What I need is an ear candle for the
heart
As the flame flickers high and wild
smoke stealthily drawing downward
yet upward
a mobious strip of warmth
exploring, excavating,
eliminating
drawing up all the old accumulations
